Reading the Gazette at Mont-Saint-Michel in Normandy

July 13, 2022

In April 2022, Cape Gazette reader Eric Peterson traveled across the ocean on Holland America's Rotterdam from Fort Lauderdale to Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Along the way, the cruise ship made several stops including Normandy, France.  Eric decided to take the three-mile walk (instead of using the tram) to Mont-Saint-Michel, a designated World Heritage Site for its unique aesthetic and importance as a medieval Christian site.  He took along a copy of his Cape Gazette to read while eating at La Mère Poulard, a 19th century restaurant famous for the puff omelette that is cooked on a wood fire.
