Reading the Gazette on the Weddell Sea pack ice in Antarctica
In November, Bob & Karen Fischer of Lewes traveled to Antarctica aboard the National Geographic Endurance. Their adventurous vacation was booked through Lindblad Expeditions travel services.
Bob & Karen are shown here on the Weddell Sea pack ice that is about 4 feet thick. The ice class ship entered the ice pack, stopped & lowered the gangplank so that the passengers could walk from the ship onto the ice. National Geographic photographer Krista Rossow captured this awesome photo for Bob & Karen while they paused to read the Cape Gazette during their hike.
