The Rehoboth Art League’s signature summer event, the Annual Outdoor Fine Art and Fine Craft Show, will return to Henlopen Acres Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 2 and 3, and Aug. 9 and 10. Show hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sundays.
Now in its 52nd year, the event provides an opportunity for more than 125 artists and artisans from around the country to display and sell their fine art and fine crafts amidst the league’s 3.5-plus-acre wooded campus in Henlopen Acres, just blocks from busy downtown Rehoboth Beach in coastal Delaware.
The juried event yields exceptional work, and many of the artists enjoy demonstrating their creativity during the show. As always, many local and regional artists will be on campus with their artwork and displays in a variety of mediums, including oil and acrylic painting, pastel painting, fine jewelry, wood and metal work, photography, ceramics and mixed media.
The show is an unforgettable summer event full of attractions including great food, live music, artist demonstrations, gallery exhibits, beautiful gardens and the historic Peter Marsh Homestead. Local community support allows this Rehoboth Beach tradition to continue, as the efforts of more than 100 volunteers are essential for pulling off this two-weekend event.
As always, the Homestead docents will hold an auction of artwork donated by the outdoor show artists as a fundraiser for preservation projects in the league’s historic buildings. The auction items will be on display in the DeWitt Gallery during the event. Patrons may bid online or buy pieces outright.
For this year’s featured raffle item, Zu Sheng Yu donated “Good Morning,” an original oil painting valued at $4,800. Raffle proceeds will support the league’s education and exhibition programs.
RAL provides complimentary transportation to the event with Jolly Trolley shuttles to and from free parking areas at Rehoboth Elementary School.
Weekend entry fees of $5 per adult may be paid at any of the four entrance gates. There is no charge for children under the age of 12.
