Rehoboth author to address library book club Oct. 8
The Rehoboth Beach Public Library’s book club discussion will feature special guest author Ethan Joella at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 226 Rehoboth Ave., Rehoboth Beach. Joella will shed light on his new novel, “The Same Bright Stars.”
Joella calls “The Same Bright Stars” a love letter to Rehoboth Beach, where he spent summers growing up and which he now calls home. Homages to iconic Rehoboth businesses are peppered throughout the book; locals who know the real-life inspirations behind Playland and Green Awning Books will recognize the Schmidt family’s endearing and familiar hometown.
The story finds Jack Schmidt, the burnt-out heir of his family’s historic restaurant, at a crossroads between continuing the Schmidts’ culinary legacy or accepting a lucrative payout from a competitive restaurant chain. Defined by his family’s past, Jack yearns to determine his own future without betraying his truest friends and values.
