The Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company and Eastern Sussex Ducks Unlimited held the Lucky 7 Gun Bash March 5 at Fire Station 1 on Rehoboth Avenue.
Food, camaraderie, tall tales and stories, guns and fun were the order of the evening as 300 tickets were sold for the event. A silent auction, live auction, 50/50 and games were played to win Ducks Unlimited items, pictures, bikes, pistols, shotguns, tree stands, coolers, grills and many more prizes.
Guns were donated by Best Shot, Hopkins Gun Shop and Steele’s Gun Shop. Twenty-two guns were raffled by Lucky 7 tickets; 10 shotguns were given by drawings from walk-around raffle sales, and other guns were won by goose band raffle drawings.
More than $55,000 was raised for Ducks Unlimited and the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company. Ducks Unlimited uses the funds for wetlands conservation. For every $250 raised, it conserves one acre of wetlands.
“I was thoroughly impressed by the turnout tonight,” said Ducks Unlimited Past Chair Raymond Harp. “Especially since it’s our first year for the event. We couldn’t have done it without our sponsors and volunteers.”
