Rehoboth Beach Gingerbread Contest seeks entries by Nov. 1

Event to honor memory of local baker Daria Horn
September 17, 2019

The 2019 Rehoboth Beach Gingerbread Contest slated for Saturday, Nov. 30, is now seeking amateur and professional entries.

The contest, held at Epworth United Methodist Church in Rehoboth, is a fundraiser for Christmas Joy, a local ministry that helps families at Christmas and provides other year-round support.

The contest, now in its third year, challenges entrants to build an original structure or a replica made entirely of edible components. Structures are not limited to buildings. Creativity and originality are part of the judging criteria and are strongly encouraged. Other judging criteria include overall appearance, technical skill (in the professional division) and consistency of theme.

First-place awards in each category will be given in memory of Daria Horn, a local restaurateur and baker who was known as the Cake Lady to many. An early sponsor and advisor to the Gingerbread Contest, Horn passed away in January 2019.
