Rehoboth Beach names new communications manager
Rehoboth Beach announced the hiring of Brooke Thaler as the city’s new communications manager. She began Sept. 8.
Thaler replaces Lynne Coan, who had held the position since 2021 before retiring Aug. 8.
According to a Sept. 11 press release from the city, Thaler comes from Danbury, Conn., where she served as journalism/yearbook teacher and coordinator of alumni relations at the Wooster School since 2016. In this role, she grew communications in the school, notably creating and leading an online student publication that is released once per week to more than 1,200 students, alumni, trustees, parents and staff.
According to the press release, Thaler has worked in the communications field for more than 25 years in freelance writing, public relations and news reporting roles.
Thaler grew up in Wilmington and spent summers visiting her parents’ house in Rehoboth Beach. She holds a bachelor’s degree in American Studies/Mass Media and Communications from Dickinson College, where she is in the sports hall of fame for field hockey and lacrosse.
“I am thrilled to not only be relocating to Rehoboth Beach, which has always been myself and my family’s favorite place, but especially in this role,” said Thaler. “I am looking forward to sharing information to the public and the stories that come out of this special community.”
