March 8, 2022

Beacon Middle and Rehoboth Elementary students were recognized in February for winning the American Legion Auxiliary’s Americanism essay contest in 2021.

Rehoboth Elementary fifth-graders Joanna Tsoukalas and Asher Richards won the contest as fourth-graders in 2021, Dylan Peck and Brooke Montgomery won awards as fifth graders at Rehoboth Elementary, and Beacon Middle students Nicholas Petito, Jacob Rodebush and Kailey McMahon won the contest as fifth-graders in 2021.

The essay contest, open to students in grades 3-12, was created to teach students the value of patriotism and what it means to be Americans.

Thousands of students participate in the program each year. Award winners receive $50, and a $50 donation in the student’s name will be made to the Children of Warriors National Presidents Scholarship fund.
