Rehoboth in Bloom flowering in its second year

July 22, 2020

Rehoboth in Bloom has come a long way in its second year, and its 45 volunteers are proud of their accomplishments. Volunteers are maintaining 20 new planters in addition the the 32 planters placed last year.

Seven teams spread out early on Monday or Tuesday mornings to tend to planters and gardens.

New this year are the four island trios led by Linda Oberkofler. Her teams are dealing with the new large and small vases positioned on the Rehoboth Avenue median across from Starbucks, City Hall, Village by the Sea and Browseabout.

The Rehoboth Beach Farmers Market has asked Rehoboth in Bloom to plant and manage the garden outside the market, and it has donated money for the flowers. Given the recent dry periods experienced locally, team volunteers led by Phyllis Bolton have had to water almost every other day.

Suzanne Rowland and her team are currently cleaning out and prepping the gardens where the streets intersect the boardwalk at Wilmington, Delaware and Brooklyn avenues.

Costs to sponsor a planter in honor of a loved one or a business range from $350 to $550. For more information or to donate, call Dan Slagle at Rehoboth Beach Main Street, 302-227-2772, or email info@pdlovett.com.
