Rehoboth Elementary physical education teacher earns top state honors

SHAPE Delaware recently hosted its annual state conference and convention for physical education and health teachers as well as athletic coaches.

Rehoboth Elementary School’s physical education teacher, Richard Lantz, was named the SHAPE Delaware Teacher of the Year.

“I was very excited to have been nominated for this award by some of my colleagues at Rehoboth Elementary School,” said Lantz. “The state has a lot of incredibly talented and dedicated teachers who value health and physical education, so to be selected for this award is truly an honor.”

An affiliate of SHAPE America, SHAPE Delaware was created to enhance and promote health and wellness for students in the state through health, dance, physical education and recreation.

“The convention itself provides a unique professional development opportunity for individuals working in the physical education and health fields,” said Lantz. “They offer a variety of courses for members, and also provide opportunities to network and generate new ideas for lessons and activities that we are able to share with our schools.”
