Rehoboth film festival presents spotlight screenings
During its 27th annual celebration, the Rehoboth Beach International Film Festival presented two standout screenings at a spotlight event that drew an attentive audience to the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center Nov. 7.
The evening featured the Oscar-contending short film “elle/elle,” directed by Kelley Kali and starring la georgea and Dan Bucatinsky, along with U.S. Rep. Sarah McBride’s documentary “State of Firsts.” McBride delivered an introduction to the film about her historic campaign and win. The premiere brought together filmmakers, community leaders and film enthusiasts from across the region.
Presented by the Rehoboth Beach Film Society, the festival once again affirmed its place as a signature cultural event on the Cape Region calendar.
Dan Bever, film society executive director, said he was pleased with this year’s lineup.
“The Rehoboth Beach Film Society set out this year to bring a truly international film festival to coastal Delaware while maintaining our First State roots. By showcasing the best in regional filmmaking alongside seven international Oscar contenders, we’re proud to have done just that,” Bever said.
The 2025 program featured more than 100 films, spanning narratives, documentaries and shorts. Festival screenings were complemented by question-and-answer sessions, special tributes and red-carpet gatherings across venues in Rehoboth Beach and Lewes. This year’s lineup included a slate of U.S. and East Coast premieres and several Oscar-contending international titles, many making their regional debuts.
