Rehoboth library offers free yoga classes on Sundays

November 16, 2019

The Rehoboth Beach Public Library is hosting free community yoga classes at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday during the off-season.

Creative Movement Sunday Yoga classes are taught by local instructor Jenne Kaufman in the library’s upstairs meeting room. Attendees must come in through the rear entrance in the parking lot behind the building, since the library is closed on Sundays.

Kaufman, who received her yoga teaching certification from the Silver Lotus Institute in 2018, has been practicing yoga for almost 12 years. “The main thing I like about yoga is that anyone can do it,” said Kaufman. “It’s tailored to each individual’s body and their capabilities, so there aren’t any real do’s or don’t’s. You just do what your body calls for.”

Kaufman’s library sessions will focus on breathing techniques and poses suitable for beginners or visitors who can maintain their practice when they’re away from home. It’s the communal aspect of yoga that attracts Kaufman.

“Even though yoga is an individual practice, it brings together an important energy when people practice it collectively,” she said. “It makes a difference in your personal yoga practice when you share that feeling and experience with others.”

Walk-ins are welcome, as registration is not required. For more information about this and other library programs, contact Tyler Antoine at tyler.antoine@lib.de.us, or call 302-227-8044.
