New banners are welcoming residents and visitors to downtown Rehoboth. With the help of Rehoboth Beach Technical Services Supervisor Bill Maffei, Rehoboth Beach Main Street has begun installing the 6-foot-tall banners, 31 in total, on the lampposts in the center median of Rehoboth Avenue.
According to a June 28 press release from Rehoboth Main Street, the project was spearheaded in April by Rehoboth Beach Main Street Design Committee members Drexel Davison and Cindy Lovett. The banner was designed by Rehoboth-based Group J Design. The project involved numerous in-town stakeholders, including Main Street board members, restaurants, merchants and service providers. For their efforts, each stakeholder has their name on a banner.
During an unveiling of the banners July 2, Lovett said there is a lot of support for the banners, and more will be made for next year. There’s still an opportunity to help, she said. Lovett said there are also other design and beautification possibilities, such as large flower pots for the center median.
