Rehoboth man faces aggravated menacing charge

A Rehoboth Beach man, 70, faces a charge of aggravated menacing after he threatened several people over a landlord-tenant dispute.

Delaware State Police responded a the 33000 block of Clover Street in Angola at 11:40 a.m. after a report that James Harding and a family member were involved in a disagreement with tenants at the location, said Sr. Cpl. Leonard DeMalto of the Delaware State Police.

During the dispute, DeMalto said, Harding pointed a gun at a 39-year-old man. Harding then threatened to shoot a 34-year-old woman and threatened bodily harm to a 55-year-old woman. No one was injured during this encounter, DeMalto said. Troopers made contact with Harding in his vehicle at the residence, and he was taken into custody without incident. A loaded Savage Arms Model 87D .22-caliber rifle was seen in plain view in Harding’s vehicle, DeMalto said.

Harding was transported to Troop 7 and charged with felony aggravated menacing and two counts of terroristic threatening. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on his own recognizance. No other arrests were made.
