Rehoboth Beach commissioners recognized the hard work of city employees with the reading of two proclamations during a May 5 meeting.
The first was a proclamation recognizing Professional Municipal Clerks’ Week, May 4 to 10. The second was a proclamation recognizing National Public Service Recognition Week, which happens annually during the first full week of May.
Mayor Stan Mills read the municipal clerk proclamation. The municipal clerk is a time-honored and vital part of local governments that is the link between citizens and government officials, he said.
Commissioner Patrick Gossett read the public service proclamation. Public service employees facilitate access to services that keep governments working, he said.
“This week is set aside to honor the men and women in the public sector, and their efforts in serving their communities each day to improve quality of life and provide diverse services demanded by the public,” read Gossett.
City hall closed early May 7 for an employee barbecue to mark both occasions.
