Rehoboth parking meter rates too high

July 5, 2024

This is a letter I hate to write. I spent 11 years as executive director of Rehoboth Beach Main Street (1999-2009), and I have been a well-known and enthusiastic promoter of downtown Rehoboth locally and nationally.

I never shied away from coming downtown to shop or dine because I had to pay the meters. Until now.

The new rates are a deal-breaker. Over three days, I wound up spending more than $40 at the meters; $18 for one afternoon and evening alone.

If even I’m avoiding downtown in favor of places with parking, you’ve gone too far.

Please reconsider and lower the meter rates.
