Rehoboth thrift shop to host leave-taking service Jan. 10

January 7, 2026

A service of Taking Leave, Farewell Blessing and Reflections will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 10, at the now-closed Parish Thrift Shop @ Rehoboth, 20673 Coastal Hwy., Rehoboth Beach.

The service will provide closure for the many customers, volunteers, staff and parishioners who have supported the shop for almost two decades of operation at that location. Memories, notes and mementos will be collected and placed in a time capsule to be buried at the new Harbeson site.

The Forgotten Mile thrift shop location ceased operations Jan. 3. Work is underway for the opening this spring of a new location, 26804 Lewes-Georgetown Hwy. (Route 9), in Harbeson. Details will be sent out as soon as there is a definitive timeline.

The Parish Thrift Shop @ Midway remains open and is accepting all donations at this time. Donations can be dropped off at a designated location behind the store from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Tax forms can only be given out during these hours at the drop-off location. Donations cannot be accepted in the front of the store and nothing can be left out after hours. The Midway address is 18675 Coastal Highway, Unit 1, Rehoboth.

Anyone interested in donating larger bulk items may call or text 302-640-6220 to arrange a furniture pickup. Text must include name, address, contact phone number, and photos of clean and gently used furniture to be donated.

The Parish Thrift Shops are a ministry of the Episcopal Parish of All Saints' Church (Rehoboth) and St. George's Chapel (Harbeson). In addition to providing affordable clothing and dry goods, etc. for resale to customers, this important and integral ministry helps fund local charities and provide services to those in need in Cape Region communities and beyond.
