RE/MAX firms merge to form largest association in Delaware

September 10, 2010

John W. Ford, broker and owner of RE/MAX Associates in Hockessin, and Kathy Engel, owner of RE/MAX Coast & Country in Lewes, recently completed an agreement to consolidate their offices and operate under the name RE/MAX Associates. Together, the combination will form the largest RE/MAX agency in Delaware and represent a total of four offices and more than 100 licensed real estate agents and staff.

“I believe the consolidation with RE/MAX Associates under the leadership of John W. Ford makes good sense and will be a very positive and unique combination. We have the same business philosophy, so it will work well for everyone,” said Engel.

“Kathy’s reputation is extraordinary, and I’m thrilled we are now together as one company,” said Ford. “In today’s market it is important for agents to have the best tools to use to practice their craft. This will only further strengthen the ability of all of our agents to give the best service possible to their clients.”

Engel will remain with the company and continue her successful sales business. Harry Wooding will also remain as the broker and manager of the office. “It is an exciting time to be in real estate,” said Wooding. “The combination with RE/MAX Associates brings the tools we need to compete in the current atmosphere. John and Kathy’s philosophies are very similar.”

Ford added, “Harry’s dedication to helping others and drive to bring new ideas to the marketplace is what impressed me the most. He’s a proven winner.”

Public invited to celebration Sept. 10

RE/MAX Associates will be adding a resort property management division and other initiatives this fall. The new company will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony later in the year, but the firm is planning a welcome event at 2 p.m., Friday, Sept. 10, at Cape Henlopen State Park. The public is invited to attend the celebration and meet the agents and staff.
