Rendon is right choice for RD14

May 14, 2024

I have resided in the 14th Representative District since its inception following the 2000 census. During my time here, I have been active on political and social justice issues.

I have worked with the three candidates who are running in the Sept. 10 Democratic primary to represent us in the 14th Representative District in the Delaware House. The district encompasses Dewey, Rehoboth Beach and parts of Lewes.

It is with the knowledge of how they work that I have reached my conclusion as to how I will cast my ballot.

Two of the candidates running have so angered state legislators that their ability to get things done for our district is very much in doubt. The third candidate, Marty Rendon, has been working for many years on the legislative process, as a Capitol Hill staffer, UNICEF employee, and now serves on the very important Delaware Human and Civil Rights Commission, which is responsible for handling cases of discrimination in housing and employment. Because of the respect and knowledge he possesses, he has been appointed chair of its legislative committee. If elected, he already has an awareness of the legislation that will be considered and will be important to this district.

Marty is a hard worker and can be trusted to do the job. I respected his work so much I recommended him for a slot on the Delaware Stonewall board and further recommended him for the position he now serves with the Delaware Human and Civil Rights Commission.

Every election is important, we all say that, but we know that this year, it is most important, and I want someone representing me who has an untarnished history of working with people to get things done. I urge a vote for Marty Rendon in the 14th District in the Democratic primary Sept. 10.
