(Ret.) Staff Sgt. Martin Parker Sr., served his country

(Ret.) Staff Sgt. Martin Vincent Parker Sr., 61, departed ithis life Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019, due to complications of head trauma from a work-related accident in 2013.

He was born Oct. 18, 1957, in Baltimore, Md., raised in Clarksville by his paternal Uncle Henry and Aunt Louise Smith, with love and guidance from his biological father, Pierce Parker Sr.

Vincent went to Frankford Elementary in his early years, graduating from Indian River High School, class of 1975. Soon after graduation he enlisted into the U.S. Marine Corps.  A passion he had at an early age was to serve his country. During his time of service, Vincent met and married his beloved late wife Dollann Elias of 33 years.

He leaves behind a son, Martin Jr. of San Diego, Calif.; three sisters, Camille Parker of Millsboro, Margaret Parker- Bailey of Ocean View, and Chonice Parker-Fisher of Chesapeake, Va.; one brother, Pierce Parker Sr. of Baltimore; and a cousin, Stephanie Haygood of Selbyville.

Memorial Services will be held Thursday, Oct. 17, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Frankford Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher St., Frankford, where a private service for family only will be held Friday, Oct. 18, at noon.

Flowers and cards will be welcome at the memorial service.
