Richard Lee Miller, had many interests
Richard Lee Miller, 80, of Milton, and formerly of Annapolis, Md., passed away at Delaware Hospice Center Friday, May 31, 2024. He was born July 19, 1943, son of the late Arnold and Bessie (Baker) Miller.
Richard married the love of his life, Kathryn Miller, in Annapolis, Md., and the two would spend the next 60 years creating beautiful memories and raising their family. His entrepreneurial skills shone brightly as the owner and operator of Miller’s Midway Mini Storage in Midway for 20 years. Prior to that, he owned and operated Dun-Rite Septic Services and Installations in Crownsville, Md., for 20 years before moving to Delaware.
Richard's interests were as varied as they were deep. Crabbing and fishing on the Chesapeake Bay were a few of his favorite pastimes in his youth. He enjoyed crabs with his family and friends during summer times at the bay. His green thumb was evident in his carefully maintained yard, and in the springtime, you could often find him attending his flowers and vegetable garden. Richard was a Corvette enthusiast and over the years owned many Corvettes and antique cars, which he often took to car shows, where he received many awards. He was a member of Annapolis Moose Lodge 296 for 47 years and past member of the Beachcombers Corvette Club and First State Corvette Club. More than anything, however, Richard was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His memory will continue to inspire and bring comfort to those who were fortunate enough to know and love him.
In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by his sisters, Mae Wright and Ruth Cooper; and his brothers, Arnold Jr., James and Tommy Miller. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Kathryn G. Miller; his sister, Betty Lou Anderson of Washington state; children, Richard Miller (Carol) of Annapolis, Md., and Kathy Miller of Lewes; and his granddaughters, Megan and Lauren Miller of Crownsville, Md., and Parker Miller of Lewes.
A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held at a later date.
