The rumble of motorcycles will fill the air for the the 18th Annual Ride to the Tide to benefit Special Olympics Delaware Sunday, April 13. Departure is 11 a.m. from Rommel Harley-Davidson in Smyrna, where bikers begin arriving as early as 9 a.m. to enjoy pre-event refreshments and camaraderie.
The 36.5-mile ride will end at Nemours Children’s Health in Milford this year, with bikers arriving at approximately 12 p.m. Arranged with police escort so there are no stops at lights, the ride is organized by the Delaware Blue Knights Chapter 1 with assistance from Delaware Law Enforcement for Special Olympics and Delaware Department of Transportation.
“Ride to the Tide is more than just a scenic ride; it’s a show of support and inclusion for the over 4,000 Special Olympics athletes across Delaware,” said Lisa Smith, senior director of marketing and development for Special Olympics Delaware. “The enthusiasm and generosity of our riders and supporters reflect the heart of our community, and we are grateful for their dedication to our athletes.”
The police-escorted ride ensures a smooth and uninterrupted journey, allowing bikers to fully enjoy the excursion while safely making their way from Smyrna to Milford.
