Robert Carlton Burton Jr., September 12, 1929-September 12, 2021
On One September Day
Carlton and Ethel's firstborn boy,
Robert and Annie's pride and joy,
A boy to play on the old front porch,
Run down the lane and chase the hens.
Days were spent walking behind the mules,
Plowing and cultivating after school,
Stacking wood and forking hay,
The boy loved the farm but dreamed of going far away.
Rehoboth High was part of his plan,
As the boy became a determined man,
The military helped fulfill his dream,
As Korea became his new home.
Stateside he found a wife,
And Donna became the love of his life,
Susan, Bobby, Barbara, Tracy and Jim,
Joined the pair to create a home.
A man of many talents and skills,
Work was important, but Minnesota sports provided the thrills,
A union man, steeped in politics,
He sought adventure and found it.
Rest in the arms of our Lord, Bobby Burton
