Robert George Gerehart, proud Vietnam veteran

Robert George Gerehart, 78, of Millsboro, formerly a resident of Maryland and Virginia, died peacefully Thursday, Jan. 22, 2026, in hospice care in Wilmington. He was born June 9, 1947, in Hampton, Va., son of the late Alma C. Gerehart and Gilbert C. Gerehart.

After graduating high school, Bob served four years in the U.S. Air Force and was a very proud Vietnam veteran. While he lived in Maryland, Bob worked for Air Products and Chemicals, U.S. Dept. of Agriculture and Gannett Company. In Delaware, he worked for and retired from Atlantic Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Carol; and his sister, Arlene West of Poquoson, Va. He was preceded in death by a sister, Garnet L’Heureux; and a brother, Charles Gerehart.

Bob loved and was a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He also loved golf, his boats, music, and of course, his dogs. He will be missed beyond measure.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
