Rosalee Steele, loved to cook
Rosalee Steele, 96, of Millsboro, passed away at her residence Monday, Sept. 5, 2016.
She was born April 8, 1920, to the late Thomas S. and Edith E. Corder Steele in Warrenton, Va. She married her husband Raymond Steele, and together they raised five children. She worked at Townsends, and retired in 1983. She loved to "keep Millsboro's affairs straight" by her phone network staying in touch with everyone. She was very dedicated to the Millsboro community and the church. She had an animated and delightful personality and fun – unless you crossed her, then a force to reckon with. She loved to cook a big chicken dinner every Sunday, 20 pounds of chicken done in Crisco. She will be greatly missed by her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband Raymond in 1991.
She is survived by two children: Stephanie Crosson of Millsboro and Patricia Hitchens of Bridgeville. She was preceded by her three sons: Ray Steele Jr.; Randolph Steele and Bruce Steele. She is survived by a sister: Ellen Breeding of Virgina, and was preceded by siblings John Moore, Madaline Schaffer and Sadie Edwards. In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren: Sandra Millman, Ronnie Hitchens, Sharon Wardwell, Matt Hitchens, J.R. Steele, Todd Steele, Crystal Ciafardo and Elizabeth McCabe. There are 16 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren, along with many extended family members and friends, and a special close friends and helpers: Gib Atkins and Terry Hudson. The family expresses a special thanks to them.
A funeral service has been planned for Friday, Sept. 9, at noon, at the Journey Wesleyan Church in Millsboro, where friends may call one hour prior for viewing and visitation. Pastors Wayne Parsons and Wes McCullum will officiate. Interment follows in Millsboro Cemetery. Floral tributes are welcomed, or in lieu of flowers, contributions to help offset final expenses.
