Rotary donates $1,500 to Heart and Soul Ministry at St. Peter’s

January 27, 2020

The Lewes-Rehoboth Rotary Club recently presented a $1,500 check to Deacon Chris Miller-Marcin of the Heart and Soul ministry at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Lewes.

She and her group of dedicated volunteers have served over 1,000 people in need, many of them children. While Lewes and Rehoboth are often considered affluent communities, Miller-Marcin said, “If you look between the cracks, there are poor people.”

One of the programs of the Heart and Soul ministry is keeping the Little Cupboard stocked. Parishioners built the Little Cupboard on the fence between the church and parish hall on Second Street. It is stocked daily with numerous food items, toiletries, scarves, gloves and socks, and even Bibles. People stop by every day and just take what they need.

Rotary's mission is to make the greater Lewes community a better place to live, work, go to school and raise a family through both service and fundraising projects. The club meets at 5:45 p.m. every Monday for dinner at the Children’s Beach House in Lewes. Community-spirited individuals are invited to attend.
