Roy and Thelma Brown to celebrate 70th anniversary March 20

Roy and Thelma Brown of Lewes will be married 70 years Monday, March 20. They were married the first day of spring in 1947 at the Newark United Methodist Church.

Roy retired in 1970 after 20 years’ service as captain in the Wilmington Fire Department. Thelma retired in 1983 from Delaware Trust Co. after 30 years of service.

After their retirement they spent over 20 years traveling the United States in their fifth-wheel travel trailer, and they played golf daily until the early 2000s.

Their three daughters are Donna Friswell of Townsend, Andrea Downs of Georgetown and Vicki Fahey of Newark. The Browns have six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. They are members of Bethel United Methodist Church in Lewes.
