The Delmarva Christian baseball team clinched its 10th win of the season by coming from behind to topple Milford 6-3 on Senior Day May 10.

Prior to the game, Kasey Bell, Donato Carmona, Chase Hitchens, Malakai Jones, Malachi Light and Jonas Matthews were announced alongside their families and recognized for their contributions to the program.

Milford struck first in the first inning, but Bell smacked a leadoff double in the bottom half before swiping third and scoring thanks to Malachi Light. The Bucs took the lead in the fourth inning, but Bell produced another response, this time in the fifth. The senior roped a triple into center field, plating Silas Jones, giving the Royals a 3-2 lead.

A Milford run in the top of the sixth tied the game 3-3, but with two outs in the bottom half, the speedy Isaiah McCluskey gave Delmarva Christian the lead again when he scored on Silas Jones’ single. Bell answered the call again for his third hit, a single that plated Josh LoRusso and Jones to produce the 6-3 final.

Bell’s three hits, three RBIs and two runs scored led the team.

“I would like to thank the Lord for giving me the gifts and abilities to play the game of baseball,” Bell said.

Jackson Ward went the distance, striking out five over seven innings of work.

The win moves the Royals to 10-4 with three games remaining on the regular-season schedule.
