Prior to the year-end athletic banquet May 20, Delmarva Christian hosted a signing ceremony for five of its senior student-athletes who are headed off to play collegiate sports.
Addy Benjamin has signed on to play volleyball at Carin University in Langhorne, Pa. She will be one of several Highlanders, despite the show’s warning that there can only be one.
Xavier Efford will continue his baseball career in Georgetown, this time as a member of the Delaware Technical Community College team. X will become part of a rich tradition.
Journey Handy is set to continue balling, but will be a Nittany Lion playing basketball for Penn State Lehigh Valley, a fitting spot for a girl with such great reflexes.
Lily Hutt, aka Hutter or Lil, as she is called from the dugout, will be lacing up her spikes for Thomas Jefferson University’s softball team in Philadelphia.
Maggie Kwiatkowski is a gifted athlete, as evidenced by her commitment to playing both volleyball and softball at Lancaster Bible College. She will square off against Benjamin, as the two schools are rivals in the United East Conference.
Aaron Mushrush joined the sports team in Summer 2023 to help cover the emerging youth athletics scene in the Cape Region. After lettering in soccer and lacrosse at Sussex Tech, he played lacrosse at Division III Eastern University in St. David's, PA. Aaron coached lacrosse at Sussex Tech in 2009 and 2011. Post-collegiately, Mush played in the Eastern Shore Summer Lacrosse League for Blue Bird Tavern and Saltwater Lacrosse. He competed in several tournaments for the Shamrocks Lacrosse Club, which blossomed into the Maryland Lacrosse League (MDLL). Aaron interned at the Coastal Point before becoming assistant director at WMDT-TV 47 ABC in 2017 and eventually assignment editor in 2018.
