RSCT sets ‘Puss in Boots’ family production July 5

June 28, 2016

The clever, fashion-forward cat of French folklore arrives on the Delaware Shore as “Puss in Boots,” joining the Rehoboth Summer Children’s Theatre schedule at 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 5.  The production rotates throughout the season with “The Wizard of Oz” and “The Emperor’s New Clothes.” All three shows are staged at Epworth United Methodist Church in Rehoboth Beach.

The Rehoboth Summer Children’s Theatre is a professional company specializing in two-actor productions of classic stories. With fast-paced action, lightning quick costumes changes and a sparkling sense of humor, the plays are enjoyed by audiences of all ages.

“Puss in Boots” is the tale of a poor miller’s son who is given the family cat and told to make his way in the world. The lad is initially disappointed with his feline inheritance, but then, to his great surprise, he discovers the cat is enchanted. Puss promises to win the hand of the beautiful princess for her master. With a delightful blend of craftiness, thoughtful planning and feline chutzpah, the ever cool cat rids the land of a grumpy ogre, recovers the princess’ stolen crown and brings the princess and the miller’s son together for a happy ending.

Performances will continue through Thursday, Aug. 25. Tickets are $10. Children under 3 are free. Epworth UMC is located at 19258 Holland Glade Road, Rehoboth Beach. The church is one block off Route 1 with plenty of free parking. For the complete schedule or to order tickets, go to www.rehobothchildrenstheatre.org. For more information, call 302-227-6766.
