Rutgers’ historic basketball season is April 25 topic

April 18, 2026

The Rutgers Club of Delmarva will present a special event featuring Lewes resident and renowned coach Art Perry alongside Rutgers basketball legend Jeff Kleinbaum. The program is set for 4 p.m., Saturday, April 25, at the Lewes Public Library.

Their discussion will bring to life the incredible story of the 1975-76 Rutgers men’s basketball team that defied expectations, completed a perfect regular season and earned a spot in the Final Four.

Perry, who served as assistant coach during that historic season and later led multiple Division I programs, will share behind-the-scenes insights from one of college basketball’s most remarkable runs. A starting guard on the team, Kleinbaum is the author of “Unforgettable Knights.”

“This is more than a basketball story; it’s a human story,” said Perry. “It’s about young men from different backgrounds coming together, overcoming challenges and building something that endures far beyond the game.”

The event is not sponsored or endorsed by the Lewes Public Library.
