Safeway shopper donations support Cape Henlopen Food Basket

December 4, 2019

Safeway Supermarket in Rehoboth Beach is helping feed local families in need during the holidays. Through its annual Holiday Bucks campaign, Safeway gives its customers the opportunity to donate funds at the stores’ cash registers. The money collected is used to purchase food to be donated to area food banks.

Store Director Tom Adkins and Assistant Store Director Wilson Vasqueztell donated the first two pallets from the program to the Cape Henlopen Food Basket Nov. 23.

“There will be more,” Adkins said. “We’ll continue this through Jan. 1. We thank our generous customers for their support.”

The Cape Henlopen Food Basket is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to provide food assistance to individuals and families in need in the Cape Henlopen district. For more information, go to www.capehenlopenfoodbasket.org.
