Sagamore pairing dinner at Bethany Blues Jan. 28

January 18, 2020

Sagamore Spirits from Baltimore is known for its high-quality rye whiskey, and Sagamore has partnered with Bethany Blues of Lewes for the past two years. From signature barrel selections to creative cocktails and pairing dinners. Sagamore’s whiskey is a natural complement to the mouthwatering barbecue at Bethany Blues Blues.

To kick off the new decade, Bethany Blues will offer another stellar pairing dinner at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 28.

“The cocktails that bartender Ryan Minnick has come up with using Sagamore are going to be amazing,” said Nicole Giannella, Bethany Blues catering manager and pastry chef. These dinners have become highly popular with Blues’ customers. They are well rounded and offer everything from social atmosphere to drinks as well as a full dinner with dessert.”

Minnick said, “I love doing new takes on old classics. And I’m always looking to expand people’s palates.” To these ends, he has put together drinks using the Sagamore whiskeys that combine familiar themes and newer elements.

The evening will feature four cocktails, carefully crafted to complement the meal, but also to stand out against the backdrop of the cuisine, beginning with a mojito that features rye whiskey.

The second drink, the Prospector, is the award-winning concoction from the Sagamore War at the Shore at Bethany Blues. It’s a warming cocktail that marries pecan-vanilla bitters, Grand Marnier, and orange.

The evening will conclude with a drink called Old Fashioned Suspenders which pairs cold-brewed coffee, Sagamore Double Oak, and vanilla bitters. All of the Sagamore whiskey varieties will be available for sampling upon request.

To complement Minnick’s mixology, the kitchen at Blues will deliver four courses of delicious dishes starting with an amuse-bouche of grape and ricotta drizzled in balsamic on a crostini. The salad course will be a panzanella, and the main course an oven-roasted salmon. The meal will conclude with a rich chocolate espresso banana trifle. “This is a meal that has a broad appeal, and also allows the Sagamore Spirits cocktails to be in focus,” said Giannella.

Tickets are $55 and do not include gratuity. To purchase tickets, go to www.bethanyblues.com or call 302-644-2500.
