The Salvation Army of Delaware will hold its Sixth Annual Souper Bowl from noon to 3 p.m., Saturday, March 7, at Nicola Pizza on Rehoboth Avenue. The event is a fundraiser to help fill the food pantry for The Salvation Army of Sussex County.
The Salvation Army Creative heARTS artists have donated their time painting mugs for the event. For $15, patrons will receive a hand-painted mug as well as all the soup they can eat. Designs are limited and varied. A few of the artists have sold out of their designs in past years.
There will be a variety of soups to enjoy, donated by local restaurants to support this fun event. Upon entry to the event, guests will receive a ticket to vote for a favorite soup of the day.
The Salvation Army Creative heARTs Program is dedicated to helping artists with developmental and cognitive disabilities expand their knowledge of the arts and techniques, and give them an outlet to show their artwork. The artists have painted over 800 mugs and bowls for this event over the last six years. Several artists are planning to attend the event and will also have artwork and cards made from their artwork for sale.
