October 31, 2017

Sussex Academy volleyball took off from the opening serve and didn’t let up, as they ended their regular season with a 3-0 victory over Early College High School of Dover.

The Seahawks celebrated their players from the Class of 2018 as well, and the win lifted SAS to a regular-season record of 8-5.

Senior Bailey Hesson led the Seahawks with eight kills, 15 aces, four digs and five assists. SAS seniors Janie Elder and Courtney Sneller bumped eight and seven digs, respectively.

“I’m so glad that I’ve gotten to play with these seniors for four wonderful years,” said Hesson. “The coaches and my teammates have been tremendous.”

“I think we performed very well,” said SAS head coach Hailee Gooch. “I’m proud of the way they kept their energy up. I think that the energy will continue when we travel to Red Lion on Thursday [Nov. 2].”
