Schwartzkopf delivers first WWII license plate

September 21, 2020

Rep. Pete Schwarzkopf, D-Rehoboth Beach, recently hand-delivered and installed the first Delaware World War II license plate, bestowed upon Tony Damico. Damico is a 94-year-old WWII veteran who enlisted in the Navy at only 17 years old. Schwarzkopf met Damico at the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Lewes Senior Activity Center, and was shocked when Damico told him that while Delaware had commemorative license plates for veterans of every war since Korea, it did not have any plates for WWII veterans.

Thanks to Damico and the folks at Delaware Department of Transportation, Delaware now has a special license plate for the brave WWII veterans, and Damico received the very first one.
