SDARJ dialogue continues with alumni program

June 27, 2023

We were delighted to read the letter from Stephen Seeling in the June 14 edition, in which he lauded the benefits of the Dialogue Toward Ending Racism program sponsored by the Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice.

As early participants and graduates of that program (then called Dialogue to Action-DTA), we experienced the same remarkable experience as reported by Seeling. Shortly after our participation in the program, we were offered the opportunity to participate in a newly formed DTA/DTER alumni program. That program, originally conceived and facilitated by two wonderful community leaders, Joe Lawson and Kate Cauley, enabled us to continue to discuss and act upon the critical issues upon which we spoke during our original program participation.

That alumni group now numbers more than 100 participants. We are pleased to now be facilitating that group, which meets monthly via Zoom and essentially is organized and directed in a collaborative manner by its participants.

We are hopeful that Seeling and his fellow DTER grads will join our group and that members of the community will take advantage of DTER and will join with us in continuing its mission in the alumni program.
