By the Sea and Beyond art reception slated July 19 in Rehoboth

July 4, 2019

CAMP Rehoboth will host the work of local artists Donna Deely and Richard D. Thibodeau in By the Sea and Beyond, an exhibit to run Tuesday, July 9, to Wednesday, July 31. An artists reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, July 19, at 37 Baltimore Ave., Rehoboth Beach.

Deely studied art in college but didn’t really do anything with it until relocating to New Hope, Pa., an artists’ haven. Her work has been in shows in Rehoboth Beach, New Hope and Long Beach Island, N.J. She was commissioned to do a mural for Arlington County Department of Human Services. Her fond memories of childhood summers split between the Jersey shore and a farm in Tennessee inspire Deely’s work.

From a young age, Thibodeau wanted to be an artist. A love of coloring books led him to pursue a variety of media such as wood, decoupage, watercolors, oils, pottery and more. Experimentation led Thibodeau to reintroduce reverse painting on glass, a 1900s period technique which incorporates the Art Deco style. He has modernized the images, and what was once an old artistic technique is now a current vision with a new flair incorporating vibrant colors and dimension. Thibodeau has exhibited at the Vienna Art Society, the Fairfax Art League in Virginia, and the 205 Lavinia Street Gallery in Milton. He has won many awards and recognitions. His desire to share his art and make audiences happy with his remarkable images is what motivates him.
