The Sussex Academy volleyball team moved to 6-1 on the season with a 25-8, 25-7, 25-8 defeat of a winless Laurel squad.
Mya Hastings led the Seahawks with 10 kills and seven aces. Sophomore Josephine Smith put up 18 assists. Grayce Glover and Nadia Ahmed knocked down six and five kills, respectively.
“We discussed playing better than our previous game,” said Sussex Academy coach Hailee Gooch. “We minimized mistakes, and performed with the same intensity and drive regardless of different lineups going in. They set a goal for themselves every set and surpassed it each set. We’re proud of how they showed up and are back to work at practice on how we continue this momentum.”
The Seahawks travel to Delmar Tuesday, Sept. 30, to face the Wildcats.
