Delaware Seashore State Park is offering kayak eco-tours through the salt marshes of Rehoboth Bay this summer. In addition to learning about the ecology of the Inland Bays, participants will get a taste of local history along the way.
Tours will be offered at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday through Friday until Aug. 14. Participants will meet at Savages Ditch Road where they will launch their kayaks into a section of Rehoboth Bay known as Station Cove. Along the way, park interpreters will discuss the history behind this name, as well as identify the birds, plants and marine life that call the salt marsh home.
The fee for this program is $35 per person and participants must be at least 13 years old. Closed-toe shoes, drinking water and sun protection are required. Preregistration is required as space is limited. For more information or to preregister, call the Indian River Life-Saving Station at 302-227-6991, or go to destateparks.com.
