Ogre's Grove will be featuring the art of Mal Meehan in September. Meehan drew his first comic book at the age of 9 and by 16 had a publication sold at the original Forbidden Planet book store on Denmark Street in London. He interned at Fleetway IPC magazines in London, inking occasional late-to-press 2000AD pages on Judge Dredd, The ABC Warriors and Strontium Dog.
While studying to become a film cameraman, he worked on Tim Burton's "Batman" and "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" before moving into video engineering. For 30 years, Meehan has created immersive experiences for retail, exhibition and museum installations and now owns and operates Milton Multimedia.
A meet-the-artist reception will be held from 2 to 6 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 14, in conjunction with Second Saturday activities in Milton. Several small businesses, including Ogre's Grove, offer an exclusive coupon the second Saturday of each month. Look for the ad in the Sept. 13 issue of the Cape Gazette.
Ogre's Grove is located at 129 Union St., in the historic house next to the Milton library. For more information, go to www.OgresGrove.com or www.delawarescene.com/event/24832/second-saturdays.
