Senate Dems applauded for passing SB 159

June 13, 2025

I would like to applaud the decision that our Democratic Senators made to pass Senate Bill 159 to override Sussex County Council with regard to a substation for the US Wind offshore wind project.

If our own local government can’t get things right, then it should be overridden by the state. I am tired of hearing we need to save the horseshoe crabs and we shouldn’t trample on marshland when we are in the middle of an existential energy crisis. We need to save our way of life, not just a few species and one small state park beach; not when energy access is at risk and we could have upcoming brownouts.

Yes, bringing the offshore wind cable on the 3Rs beach is for a Maryland project, and this project may actually raise our electricity bills, but it is worth it if it means we can have big, beautiful offshore wind turbines, and they will be especially beautiful at night with their blinking lights.

So, therefore, I commend our Democrat leaders for overriding local government. The ends justify the means! I will keep voting Democrat until all of Delaware is covered with wind turbines!
