Sheryl A Hoffman Woods, tourism specialist
Sheryl A. Hoffman Woods of Kingston, N.Y., and recently of Lewes, passed away Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016. Born in Syracuse, N.Y., to Laura Seiler Hoffman and Edwin B. Hoffman, she was raised in Wilmington, and graduated from P.S. DuPont High School.
She had an extensive career as a stewardess and chief stewardess for many airlines, starting with American Airlines, and later at Mohawk Airlines where she became regional sales director. She was member of many professional organization including the Kiwis.
She eventually became a regional director of tourism for the State of New York. Her efforts were part of the “I Love New York” initiative. After retiring from the State of N.Y., she was a mentor, and she loved producing hundreds of water color paintings of the New York countryside.
Sheryl was cherished and loved by her family, and will be greatly missed. Sheryl is survived by her sister, Lynn Hoffman Gordon Jankus and her brother Edwin Hoffman; her nephews and nieces, John Gordon, Deby Moore, Patricia McMichael, Cheri Gordon-Patterson, Gerilyn Gaskill, Joseph Gordon, Theresa Davis, Eddie Hoffman, Carol Hoffman, Cathy Balaguer and Adon Hoffman; 20 great-nieces and -nephews; and 21 great-great-nieces and -nephews; and many cousins.
