Shirley Mae Altemus, enjoyed her family

Shirley Mae Altemus, 87, of Rehoboth Beach passed away Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2021.  She was born June 26, 1934, in Somerset, Pa., daughter of the late Joel F.  and Ruth (Parks) Altemus.

Shirley built a lifelong career working for Scott Paper Company as an assembly worker, from where she retired after 30 dedicated years. In her spare time, she enjoyed crafting, reading, and going out to dinner with friends and family. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and celebrating special occasions. Shirley was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend, and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her oldest brother, Dean Altemus and her sister-in-law, Marion Altemus. She is survived by her brothers: Joel F. Altemus Jr., William R. Altemus; her sisters-in-law: Geraldine Altemus and Sandy Altemus; her nephews: Jeff Altemus, Raymond Redding, James Redding, Charles Altemus; her nieces: Cindy Lazar and Kim Carroll.

A graveside service will take place Tuesday, Oct. 19, at 1 p.m., at Bethel Methodist Cemetery, Savannah Road, Lewes.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
