Shorebreak downed the Wesley Team 11-5 in the semifinals, while the Rip Tide defeated the PSU Pool Boys 7-5.
It was the second straight summer league title as Shorebreak Lacrosse, but fourth straight year for this core group of players.
“These guys gave it everything. We had some tough games. They made big plays, and we had a lot of laughs," said Shorebreak captain Franc Cook. "I’m thankful to share the field with them.”
The score was knotted up at 5-5 at halftime, but the Shorebreak defense tightened up and held the high-scoring Rip Tide team scoreless in the second half to garner the 10-5 victory.
Mikey Frederick lead Rip Tide with two goals. Hank D’Ambrogi, Brexton Carter and Elliott Dotson each scored once.
Shorebreak attackman Joe Coveleski led the scoring with three goals. Dan Yearick scored twice. Andrew Scrutchfield, Cody Trivits, Ben Todd, Reece Stone and CJ Fritchman each scored a goal.
Fritchman led both teams at the face-off X, winning 7-of-10 possessions. Goalie Franc Cook stopped 20 scoring attempts. Blake Gipko tallied two assists.
“It was great to see both teams compete at such a high level,” said DE Turf Director Dan Yearick. “This is exactly why we created our men’s league, to give players a place to continue playing the game they love long after their high school or college days are over. Congratulations to Shorebreak Lacrosse and thank you to all teams who participated this summer.”
