Sidelines: March Madness begins

March 22, 2019

I know, I'm not exactly going out on a limb this year, but I picked North Carolina to win the tournament. Since they are a number one seed as well as Duke, I figured a lot of people would go with Duke as their final team and I always like to try to be at least a little less mainstream. I also picked Gonzaga, Michigan State, and Purdue to make the Final Four. I’m just hoping there are a lot of close games.

There is only one week until opening day for most of the Major League baseball teams. Thankfully, the Phillies got serious about scoring runs during the last week of spring training in Florida. I think us Philly fans were beginning to have concerns about their bats.

The National League East division is going to come down to the wire this season between the Philadelphia Phillies, the New York Mets, and the Washington Nationals. I am ready for it all and especially the warmer weather that accompanies the majority of the baseball season. So sick of miserable weather!

Is anyone else as fed up with the ridiculousness of the salaries being set for baseball? This seriously has to stop at some point. I know Mike Trout is one of the best players in baseball, but nobody should be able to make $430 million playing any sport! Hopefully he will give generously to well-deserving charities in the the years ahead. That would help my mindset just a little.

See you on the sidelines!!
