Sipple monument company cuts ribbon on Millsboro location

February 6, 2026

Despite frigid temperatures Jan. 24, an enthusiastic crowd gathered to celebrate an opening reception and ribbon cutting for Wm. V. Sipple & Son’s newest location at 103 State St., Millsboro.

Founded in 1869, the sixth-generation family business is Delmarva’s oldest monument company, known for its dedication to quality craftsmanship and meaningful memorials.

“We are deeply grateful for the overwhelming support from the community,” said Jennifer Boyer, company president and great-great-granddaughter of William V. Sipple. “It means so much to continue our legacy in such a historic space and to serve families throughout Sussex County for generations to come.”

The company now inhabits the oldest commercial building in town, originally built in 1840 by Benjamin Burton. For the past 75 years, the space was known as Carey’s Paint and Frame Shop.
