The Skirt Chaser 10 Miler contested Nov. 15, sponsored by the Rehoboth Beach Running Company, was fun to run, comfortable to watch and difficult to unravel for results.
"There is place, chip time and gun time,” said Race Director Tim Bamforth, who dreams in digital displays.
The skirt chaser idea is to give all the women an 8:30 head start; then the men try to run them down.
The finishing place takes advantage of the head start.
Enos Benbow was the overall winner in 59:51 followed by Andy Jakubowitch in 1:00:40.
Erin Graves was the first woman and third overall in 1:11.0 and was caught by Benbow at the 7.5-mile mark.
The rest of the top 10 were Ryan Wilson 1:04, Abby Myers 1:12, Brandt "Chic Chaser” Chi 1:05, Paul Montini 1:06, Jeanette Hammon 1:16, Rich Jones 1:08 and Anthony Romano 1:08.
A total of 22 runners averaged an under 8 minute per mile pace for the 10-mile course connecting Rehoboth through Gordons Pond to Herring Point and back again.
