Small Jewels exhibit to open at Peninsula Gallery Nov. 28

November 20, 2020

This year marks the 17th annual holiday exhibition at the Peninsula Gallery in Lewes. Small Jewels will open Saturday, Nov. 28, and will feature more than 120 works from 26 artists.

Beginning at 5 p.m., Nov. 28, an opening reception will be held, during which groups of 12 people will be allowed in the gallery at 20-minute intervals. Attendees must reserve a time slot beforehand and are required to wear a mask. To choose a time slot, call 302-645-0551 or email peninsulagallery1@gmail.com.

Each piece on display will be $500 or less and 80 or fewer square inches in size. The idea behind this exhibit is to curate a show where clients can find fine original art at gift-giving prices.

The lineup of local, regional, and international participants includes 19 repeat exhibitors and seven artists who are new to the gallery.

The group consists primarily of oil painters, along with acrylic painters, pastelists, silkscreen printers, mixed-media artists and one fiber artist.

A wide variety of subject matter will be showcased including animals and landscapes, both coastal and rural; figures; still lifes; and contemporary abstract works.

Tony Boyd-Heron, gallery co-owner, said, “Each year, it’s very exciting to get the show up on the walls. It’s always sort of a shock walking into a room lined with so many paintings.”

The exhibition will hang through Thursday, Dec. 31.

Images in any Peninsula Gallery show may be previewed at peninsula-gallery.com about two weeks prior to the opening and are available for purchase as soon as they are posted online.

The gallery is located in the Shops at the Beacon, 520 East Savannah Road, Lewes, and is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday to Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday.
