SNL cast member Sasheer Zamata to perform at Milton Theatre Aug. 23
The Milton Theatre will host “Saturday Night Live” cast member Sasheer Zamata on stage for a night of laughter at 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 23. Zamata is an actress and comedian who has been listed in Cosmopolitan's 13 Funny Women to Watch in 2014, Time Out New York's Top 10 Funniest Women in NYC in 2014, Brooklyn Magazine's 50 Funniest People in Brooklyn and Complex Magazine's Women in Comedy You Should Be Paying Attention to Right Now in 2015.
She was a founding member of the University of Virginia's long-form improv comedy troupe, Amuse Bouche. These days she can be seen performing improv at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater alongside the likes of BUCKY and Doppelganger and traveling the country doing stand-up at clubs and colleges. She's done stand-up at Bonnaroo, SXSW, Moontower Comedy Festival, SF Sketchfest, Bridgetown Comedy Festival, New York Comedy Festival, Brooklyn Comedy Festival, Limestone Comedy Festival, Woodstock Comedy Festival, North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival, Great American Comedy Festival and Women in Comedy Festival.
Zamata’s comedic portfolio is bountiful - appearing on on an array of TV specials including “Inside Amy Schumer,” “Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell,” “ABC's Would you Fall for That” and “This American Life.” She also co-created and co-starred in the webseries Pursuit of Sexiness, which was highly acclaimed by both Variety and Glamour magazines. This year Zamata is wrapping up filming on an upcoming movie, “Sleight,” to be released in 2017. When Zamata isn't being the funny girl on stage, she can be found using her platform for change as ACLU's Celebrity Ambassador for Women's Rights.
